Obituary of Dr. Victor Elias

Dr. Victor Elias, husband, father, son, physicist, poet, singer, teacher, and devout Jew, passed away on May 18, 2006. He is survived by loving wife D'vorah and four children Gabriel, Rebecca, Leonard, and Nathan. For two years Vic fought a courageous battle against cancer, never once losing his deep faith in God and love for life. His incredibly bright mind and strength of spirit carried him past all prognoses, allowing him time to write and publish two books of poetry: Drinking With Old Men and A Game of Jeopardy. Vic's passion and gift for theoretical physics at the University of Western Ontario has also led the department in exciting new directions. Thanks to the many hands extended from the community; you all are a testament to the impact Vic so easily made on those around him. Donations in Vic's honour can be made to the London Community Hebrew Day School. "I knew well enough now that beauty will not escape, nor be left without deep understanding and due respect and appreciation from an overflowing human in Vic Elias." - Farrukh A Chishtie The funeral service will be held at Or Shalom Synagogue, 534 Huron Street on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 1:30 pm with Rabbi Larry Lander officiating.
