Obituary of Nikolaos Kapsalis
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Nikolaos Kapsalis. Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 29, 2025, Nikolaos Kapsalis passed away at the age of 97. Beloved husband of Potitsa Kapsalis for 68 years. Loving father of Georgia Raso (Michael), Stella Cosby (Ken) and Tina Thelwell (Junior). Cherished grandfather (Papou) to his grandchildren. Dear brother to Efrosini (George) Vouvalidis and brother-in-law to Maria Mavropodi. Nikolaos is preceded in death by his sister Kostantina Kapsalis and his brother Sarantos Kapsalis.
Born on November 24, 1927, in Paleopanagia Sparta, Greece, he immigrated to Canada on March 29, 1958 aboard the Saturnia to better his life and embrace the promise of a better life for him and his family. He and his wife Potitsa built a life in London, Ontario. He loved to laugh and live life loudly.
Everything Nikolaos had, he gave to his family. Nothing mattered more than supporting and providing for his family. He taught us all to be examples of hard work, honour, and moral clarity. He was tough, and true to his Spartan roots, he was a fighter. Although he faced great adversity in his life, he always faced it head on with dignity and resolve.
Nikolaos will be fondly remembered for recounting all the stories of life and growing up in his hometown of Paleopangia, spending time in his vegetable garden, his love of music but his most passionate love was spending time with his family. Thank you, Dad and Papou, for everything you were and did for us. We will miss you deeply for the rest of our days.
Nikolaos will forever be in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks for the compassionate care and support provided by all the staff & management of McGarrell Place.
~ May his memory be eternal ~
