Obituary of Lynette "Lyn" Ridley
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce Lyn’s peaceful passing on Monday March 31, 2025 in her 88th year. Beloved mom of Abby (Rob) Chautems, Kim Velloza, Stuart (Joan King) Ridley and Lee-Anne (Shawn Pollock) Ridley. Dear sister of Rose Van den Berg, Hilda (Gerald) Fernandes, Bernie (Al) Pribaz. Preceded by her siblings Rita Kennedy, Claudette Mendes, John (Waveny) Alphonso, and Leo (Beulah) Alphonso. Cherished Nana of Richard (Bethany) Chautems, Bryan (Nicole) Chautems, Nathan and Jacob Courville, Victoria (Vanja Kostic) Ridley, Evan (Mikela Tynski) Ridley, Kieran, Quinn and Sinead Pollock. Great Nana to Taylor, Carter, and Kaelyn Chautems.
After moving to Canada, Lyn lived in Quebec, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, forming many lasting friendships along the way. Lyn's superpower was her exceptional social skills and her ability to make friends wherever she went. As she liked to say, "I never met a stranger." Recently, Lyn returned to Woodstock and London to be closer to family, after spending 30 years in Centerville, Ohio. There, she was an active member of Incarnation Church and volunteered as the manager of the Alter High School Spirit Store.
A woman of deep faith, Lyn found joy, comfort, and lasting friendships through attending daily Mass and participating in various church social groups. In Woodstock, she was a member of Holy Trinity and especially enjoyed the Wednesday afternoon Senior Social.
Lyn was a loving mother, sister, aunt, nana, and friend, known for making everyone feel welcomed and loved. She was the ultimate "hostess with the mostess," delighting in cooking and entertaining. Lyn had a passion for sports, particularly enjoying her grandchildren’s hockey and basketball games, often traveling to out-of-town tournaments. One of the basketball teams even nicknamed her their “Super Fan.”
Lyn lived a full, vibrant life, filled with love, adventure, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday April 5, 2025, from Holy Trinity Parish, 1420 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, Ontario at 1:30pm. Cremation to follow.
