Obituary of Cornelis Dol
Peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, June 2, 2025 at LHSC, University Hospital, Cornelis Dol passed away at the age of 92.
Beloved husband of 67 years to Mary Lou Dol. Loving father of Corinne (Jerry) Wilson, Martin (Laura) Dol and Angela Vukailovic (Steve Thiel). Cherished grandfather of Tyler (Stacey), Cameron, Matthew (Riley), Lucas (Kalei), Olivia and Rachel. Proud great-grandfather of Cali. Forever in the hearts of his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Cornelis, known to many as Neil, came to Canada on the Beaverbrae in 1951 from The Netherlands with his parents and 10 siblings. The Dol family soon grew to a family of 18 children, who worked hard on a farm in both the Netherlands and Canada. Neil eventually settled in Ontario where he met his wife Mary-lou and started his family. He worked many different jobs including Kelvinator and Eaton's and after retiring from Eaton's he volunteered for over 20 years at the London Food Bank. Neil had a special love for gardening, nature and enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders in his yard. Neil was quite the craftsman and carpenter and over the years built many things for his family including a play kitchen for his children and a treehouse for his grandchildren. He enjoyed travelling with his wife, children and grandchildren to numerous places across Canada, America and also Europe. Neil also had a love for camping and owned several RV's where he could explore the beautiful country in which he lived. Above all he loved his family and cherished every moment he spent with them and left them with memories they will carry forever. Neil was a kind hearted and gentle man with a infectious smile who brightened the spirits of those around him. We love you Neil, Dad, Opa.
Cornelis loved gardening and will be fondly remembered for his hardworking and loving nature.
Cremation has taken place.
