Obituary of Cathy Arnos

Peacefully at Mount Hope Nursing Home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Ekaterina “Cathy” Arnos of London at the age of 98.

Beloved wife of 58 years to the late Antonios “Tony” Arnos. Dear mother of Mary Arnos of Toronto and Athanasios “Tom” Arnos (Fran) of London. Loved by her grandsons Stavros “Steven” Bintas (Ellie) and Antonios “Tony” Bintas of Toronto. Survived by siblings Voula of Greece, Eugenia and Gus of London. Predeceased by siblings Kostantino and Antigone of Greece, Mary of London and George of Toronto. Sadly missed by her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, goddaughter and many loving nieces and nephews.

Our mother immigrated to Canada in 1951 through Halifax. She lived in St. Catharines and later moved to London, ON. In Athens, Greece she started in textiles and attended school for clothing design. In Canada she worked at McCormicks, Garbers, Leeds of London, D’Allaird’s and had her own clothing design and seamstress business. She was always dressed in style with her high heels and lipstick. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and was involved in the Greek community. She loved taking two months out of the year to travel to the United States to visit family and friends. Her favourites were Tulsa, Oklahoma and Kansas City, Missouri. She enjoyed playing her mandolin guitar. She also enjoyed many styles of ballroom dancing and she was amazing. Her adventurous stories and fierce outlook on life will live on. Our courageous mother was the first member of her family to come to Canada. She later supported the immigration of several siblings who later brought their loved ones and so on and so on. Our mother met our father while she was vacationing in Greece. They married and came to Canada in 1958 and later started their family. She is a true matriarch to all our families and her legacy will live on in all the families whose roots lead back to her.

The family would like to thank all the staff who supported our mother’s care at Kensington Retirement Home and most recently at Mount Hope - Marian Villa 2nd floor.
