Obituary of Marie Gloria Francoise van Assendelft de Coningh

Peacefully, at LHSC, University Hospital on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Marie “Gloria” Françoise van Assendelft de Coningh passed away at the age of 84.

Born in 1941 to parents Rheo Baillargeon and wife Rita Ward, Gloria and her brother spent their formative years in Montreal, Quebec, where she met Pieter in 1965. They married the following year and later moved to London, Ontario. Gloria spent many hours reading the Bible and could be counted on to quote scripture at any time. She also enjoyed singing and taking long walks. Gloria has joined her predeceased family; her parents, husband Pieter, daughter-in-law Monique van Assendelft de Coningh, stepson Jerry and his children, Anik and Carl. Gloria is survived by her stepson Pieter, daughter-in-law Maryelle, grandchildren; Cynthia (husband Andrew Schroder), Peter van Assendelft de Coningh (wife leva), Ingrid (husband Blake Powell) and Tracy (husband Warren Garmon). Gloria also leaves behind great-grandchildren; Dustin, Morgan, Samantha, Kaiden, Trinity, Tyler, Nicole and Peter.

Cremation has taken place.

A private graveside service and burial of ashes will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London, Ontario.

Memorial service will be held at Salvation Army Centre of Hope, 281 Wellington Street, London, Ontario on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
