Obituary of Dimitrios George Skrettas

March 25, 1935 – September 16, 2025

Peacefully, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at LHSC, Victoria Hospital, Dimitrios George Skrettas passed away at the age of 90.

Beloved husband of 59 years to Efthymia “Effie” Skrettas (née Karentzos). Loving father of George Skrettas (Julie Panayota) and Eleftheria “Litsa” Skrettas (Achilleas Anagnostopoulos). Cherished Pappou of Dimitrios, Efthymia Alexandra, Eleftherios, Sophia, Dimitrios Arsenios and Loukas Efthymios. Dear Godfather of John Fragiskatos. Brother of the late Vassilios (the late Ourania), the  late Athanasios (the late Aikaterini), the late Antonios (Konstantina), the late Stavros (the late Christina), Konstantinos (Christina), Maria (the late Rizos) and Pavlos (Eleni). Son of the late Georgios and the late Elefheria. Forever in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Dimitrios immigrated to Canada with hopes of a better future. He was grateful to Canada for all the opportunities that were offered to him. Dimitrios will be fondly remembered for his integrity, hard-working nature and devotion and love for his family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all clergy, neighbours, family and friends for all their care and support throughout the years.

Trisagion prayer service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., London, Ontario on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral service and burial will be held in Greece.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make memorial donations to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in memory of Dimitrios George Skrettas.
