Obituary of Alice Donna Wakefield
Alice Donna Wakefield, (nee Fowler) 95, of London Ontario, passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 21st, 2025.
Donna, as she was known, was born in London, Ontario on September 1st, 1930, and was a shining light, gentle and generous to a fault, affectionate to those close to her, and a well liked friend to a wide circle of people, widely travelled and always up for adventures. She excelled at crosswords, read voraciously, rode her bike, walked and curled well into her eighties and her excellent cooking skills rarely had her regular invitees turn down a chance for dinner.
Donna was predeceased by her mother and father, Dorothy (nee Mann) and Ned Fowler, and married to Gerald Frank Wakefield of Bristol England (pre-deceased) for 50 years, mother to Geoffrey, Janice Marks (George) and Stephen, sibling to Shawn Whittaker and Bob Fowler, grandmother of Jasen (Jo) Marks and Jamie Marks (Vicky Davis), great-grandmother of Geri, Alec and Nicholas, aunt to Mike (Karen) O‘Neil, John (Sharon) O’Neil, Kelly O’Neil, Terry Shipway , Martha Johnson and Tim Fowler.
The family extends its deepest gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, who gave Donna their unerring attention and excellent and compassionate caregiving.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society Southwest Partners, would be appreciated.
A visitation will be held on November 7th, 2025, from 2-5pm at Evan’s Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Road, London.
A private interment of ashes will take place at Putnam Cemetery.
