Obituary of Dr. James Kirk

Dr. James Kirk (Jim) passed away peacefully in the early hours of Hallowe’en, slipping through the veil when it was at its thinnest.

Born in 1949 to James Norman and Evelyn Kirk (Pilkington), Jim is survived by his sister Lynn, cousin Drena Harvey, and eight loving children — Sean (Natasha), Ted (Shannon), Marla (Richard), Mary, Raymond (Shaina), Mallory (Patricia), Brendan, and Jacob — as well as many grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graduate of the University of Toronto’s MD program, Jim dedicated 45 years to serving the Ingersoll community as a family physician. Known for his compassion, humour, and signature moose slippers, he cared deeply for his patients and brought warmth and levity wherever he went. Ever the good sport, he was proud to share a name with Captain James Kirk of the Starship Enterprise.

Jim loved hockey, horse racing, and the ocean waves of Florida, which reminded him of childhood summers spent at Wasaga Beach.

In recent years, Jim faced a neurodegenerative illness that gradually took the vibrant man his loved ones knew. Thanks to the devoted care of his two youngest sons, he was able to remain in his home, surrounded by love, until the end.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at  250 Ingersoll St. South, Ingersoll.
