Obituary of Sheldon Aaron
Sheldon Aaron, 83, of London, ON, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. A cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many, Sheldon’s presence will be deeply missed.
Born in Prince Albert, SK, in 1942 to Alexander (Alec) and Ann Aaron, Sheldon remained proud and connected to his prairie roots and looked forward to his visits to Prince Albert and Waskesiu Lake.
After moving to London to study at the University of Western Ontario, Sheldon made the city his home for over 65 years, operating multiple businesses and becoming deeply entrenched in the community.
As the former proprietor of the Lamplighter and Guildwood Inns, and a property developer throughout Southwestern Ontario, Sheldon built a wide network of business and social relationships and was always available to lend an ear, offer a piece of advice, or just his time.
More than anything, Sheldon loved spending time with his family and truly enjoyed life to the fullest. He was happiest when travelling, skiing, fishing, and playing tennis with his children, grandson, and friends, new and old. His broad smile and mischievous wink betrayed his adventurous side that ensured time with Sheldon was rarely (never) dull. Sheldon lived a big life, and he lived it well.
Sheldon believed deeply in philanthropy and contributed in meaningful ways to many organizations. Most importantly, Sheldon dedicated his time by serving as Chairman of Huron University College, President of the London YM/YWCA, the London Property Management Association, and what is now referred to as the Museum of Ontario Archaeology, and as a Board Member of YMCA Canada, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the London Jewish Federation.
Sheldon is survived by his wife, Betsy; his daughters, Laura Aaron and Jenny Aaron (Eric); his grandson, Levi Aaron; his brother, Bill (Randi); and his nieces, Baillie and Tobyn Aaron.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Alzheimer’s Society Southwest Partners or Saint Joseph’s Hospice of London
Services will be held at Or Shalom Synagogue, 534 Huron Street, London on Sunday, February 22, at 2 pm. Burial to follow at Or Shalom Cemetery on Proudfoot Lane.
