Obituary of Panagiotis "Peter" Petropoulakis
Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Peter Petropoulakis of London at the age of 94, surrounded by family in his final days. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in tradition, perseverance, and a deep love for his family.
Beloved husband of Nicoletta for 68 years. Loving father of Alex, Penni (Vince) Pileggi and father-in-law of Michelle. Loving Papou of Alexandria, Zack, Luke, Taliya and Anthony.
Peter was born in 1932 and raised in Gytheio, Greece, a quaint seaside town near Sparta. Peter carried his heritage with pride throughout his life. He served in the Greek army before embarking on a new journey, immigrating to Canada in 1958 to be with the love of his life, Nicoletta. Peter and Nicki married in London that same year and began a lifelong partnership filled with devotion and a shared connection to their heritage.
Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming their son Alex and daughter Penni. Peter was a proud Papou to five grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy. He was a devoted and doting grandfather, always there for school pickups, babysitting the grandkids, and every moment he could spend with them.
Peter had a deep passion for politics, history, philosophy, and Greek music. He was a quiet and stoic man, but when he spoke, his words carried meaning and people truly listened. He valued his independence, and found happiness in life's simple pleasures - a relaxing drive, enjoying warm weather, and a glass of wine or beer.
Despite building his life in Canada, his heart never left Greece. He cherished every opportunity to return with Nicki, especially the time spent harvesting olives on the family farm, a tradition that kept him closely connected to his roots.
Peter was, at his core, a proud and resolute man. In the presence of life's struggles, he always held hope that the world would continue to become a better place. His fortitude, wisdom, and unshakable commitment to serving family will be remembered always.
Our Papou has set off on a peaceful drive, leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and fond memories. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
