Obituary of Margarita "Rita" Theresa McCrave (née Walsh)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margarita “Rita” McCrave, who passed away peacefully on March 24 at the age of 82.

Rita was born on January 4, 1944, in Liverpool, England. In the early 1970s, she and her beloved husband, James “Jimmy” McCrave, made the brave decision to move to Canada. Though it was a significant culture shift, they built a life full of love, laughter, and lasting connections, proudly making Canada their home.

Rita was predeceased by her husband Jimmy in 2021, and was reunited with her beloved parents, Bridget and John Walsh. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Linda McCrave (Joel), Michelle Riddell (Bill), and Nicola McCrave (Morgan). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ashley Formica (Jay), Lauren Howell-Harries (Kyrsten), Christian McCrave (Robyn), Bridget Sherman (Robbie), and Hannah Bayard (Donny), and a cherished great-grandmother to many.

Rita was known for her sharp wit, her warmth, and her unmistakable sense of humour. She was loved deeply by her family, friends, and coworkers. Her Liverpool roots stayed with her always—especially in her unforgettable Scouse expressions, which will continue to bring smiles to those who knew her.

Above all, Rita will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the joy she brought into every room.

We take comfort in imagining Rita reunited with Jimmy—together again, dancing in the clouds.
