Obituary of Lianne Parkington (née Smith)

Lianne Parkington (née Smith) passed away on June 8, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones at LHSC, Victoria Hospital at the age of 79.

Lianne was born in London, Ontario, on February 3, 1947. In 1968, she married her sweetheart Bob and in 1971 they welcomed their first and only daughter, Jodi. In July 1989, they moved to their new home in Dorchester, built lovingly by Bob. During construction, Bob and Lianne spent many late nights working on their new home, which has since become a treasured gathering space for their family.

Lianne is remembered as a kind, generous, courageous, and deeply loving person. She had a witty sense of humor and often had quick and clever comebacks. Lianne was always up for a game of cribbage or Play Nine – during which she always got 'stuck' sitting to the left of her determined husband. Lianne kept a beautiful home and was always a gracious host – known by many for her one-of-a-kind salad dressing.

Lianne is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of 57 years, Robert Parkington; daughter Jodi Hawkins (Neil); granddaughters Paige Murray (Spencer) and Eva Milner; her sister Joanne Doggart and her brother Robert Gavin Smith, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Cremation has taken place.

A small Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 513, 1227 Donnybrook Drive, Dorchester, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
