Obituary of Sylvia Margaret Schmidt

Peacefully, at LHSC, Victoria Hospital on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Sylvia Margaret Schmidt passed away at the age of 72. 

Loving mother of Krystal and George Lucas. Dear sister of Vivian, Bernie (Irene), Gary (Pat), Jeff (Susan) and Bryan (Elaine). Cherished aunt of Kayla, James, Chris, Nicole, Lisa, Paul, Katie, Rob, Karen, Lori, Lindsay, Kevin, Ashley, and Bryanna. Proud daughter of the late Margarete & Wilhelm Schmidt. Best gramma ever to Celina and Cameron. Forever in the hearts of her extended family and friends in London, Ontario and surrounding areas. 

Sylvia will be remembered for her selflessness, kind heart, love of sports and love of the moon. 

The family would like to thank all of the medical staff involved in Sylvia's care during her final days, especially the palliative care unit at LHSC. 

As per Sylvia's wishes, there will not be a funeral or visitation but rather a celebration of life to be held on what would have been her 73rd birthday, October 26th, 2026. Place and time to be determined. 

Those who wish may make memorial donations to Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre (formerly London Regional Cancer Program) or one of her most loved charities, Childcan, in memory of Sylvia.
