Dr. Peter was my family’s dentist from 1986 until his retirement. When we arrived in London as refugees from then-communist Poland, and Immigration Canada assigned Dr. Peter to us as our dentist, we did not realize just how lucky we were. He was not only a skilled professional but also a truly kind, understanding and generous person. When our work insurance covered 80% of our dental expenses, he refused to claim the remaining 20% because it would cut into our budget. Sometime later, when we brought my father-in-law to Canada, he also became Dr. Peter’s patient. Dr. Peter insisted on treating him free of charge because my elderly father-in-law reminded him of his own dad who, while living in Greece, might possibly need a helping hand from someone around him.
Conversations between a dentist and a patient sitting in the dentist’s chair with an open mouth are not easy. Still, we could tell that he was a devoted father to his kids. He could not be prouder when he found out that his son had graduated from medical school and become a doctor. And when his daughter set out to establish her life and career in Toronto, he was very invested in her success and happiness.
Dr. Peter left a mark in our hearts that will stay there forever.
To his children, Demetri, Marisa and Phil – you should be very proud of your father. May he rest in peace.

Dear Andros family,
Please accept my deepest sympathies at the loss of Peter. We were at Western at the same time and then both practised in London so I had years of pleasant conversations with Peter. He had such a wonderful smile that warmed a room and welcomed all.
Most sincerely,
Dr. Pennie Thornton
