Obituary of Phyllis Marie Cook

It is with sadness that the family of Phyllis Marie Cook announce her passing on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Phyllis was born on December 14,1941 in London Ontario. She lived on McKenzie Avenue in Old South with her three brothers Don, Jack and Bill, her sister Barbara (Hubbell) and her parents Norman and Mildred Cook (nee Loan). Phyllis attended Tecumseh Public School and South Secondary School. Upon graduation, she joined Sun Life. Shortly thereafter, she left Sun Life to help her parents with the family business. For 25 years, Phyllis was employed by Canada Post where she earned awards for her exemplary work. Along the way, she completed her Bachelor of Arts from The University of Western Ontario as a night school student.

Phyllis loved her family. And with time it grew to include ten nieces and nephews: David Hubbell (Jill), Susan Schmitt (Brian), Ann McColl (Don), Kim Johnston (Dave); Cathy Lowery (Glen), Nancy King (Dave), Timothy Cook; Sam Cook (Cindy), Christine Cook; and Carolyn Cook (Bret). Phyllis then became a great aunt. She is remembered by her many great nieces and nephews: Hillary, Spencer, Matthew, Scott, Josh, Megan, Michael, Laura, Kyle, Katie K., Katie J., Sophie, Charlotte, Beckham and Bowe.

Phyllis enjoyed walking, fashion, travelling, shopping, church, bible study and family get togethers. She loved to revisit Port Stanley (where she had worked at Mackie's as a teenager) to walk the pier and enjoy the legendary Orangeade.

Funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church (280 St James St, London) at 11:00 a.m. preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. Interment will take place following the service at Woodland Cemetery.
