Obituary of The Reverend J. Murdo Pollock

Peacefully, at University Hospital, on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014, The Reverend J. Murdo Pollock, in his 93rd year. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce, 3 children: Elizabeth (Stephen Firth), Jean and Janice, grandson Mark and Murdo’s brother The Reverend Robert Pollock of Vancouver. He was ordained in 1947 and appointed to the Fraser Valley in British Columbia where he established new congregations in Haney and Mission. After serving 14 years, Murdo accepted a call to Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church in London where he ministered for 29 years until retirement. Murdo was active in many local organizations including the London Public Library Board, The United Way and the Council for London Seniors. He was the first Chair of the Hamilton Road Area Council. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital. Visitation will be held at Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd. (1 block east of Egerton St.) on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Murdo’s Life will be held at St. George’s Presbyterian Church, 1475 Dundas St. E., on Thursday, August 7th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith McKee officiating. A private family interment will be held in Woodland Cemetery. Donations to St. George’s Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Presbyterian World Service and Development would be appreciated by the family.
