Obituary of Hilda McSloy
Passed away peacefully at University Hospital on Sunday, February 1, 2009. Born in the Netherlands on March 10, 1924, Hilda was the adopted daughter of Ede & Jacob Kremer and was raised as Hilda Kremer. In 1945 she married Bill McSloy, a Canadian soldier and came to Canada as a War Bride. Hilda was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother She will be sadly missed by Jack and his wife Nancy, Alan and his wife Barbara, Nancy and her husband Bob Blow, Bob McSloy and Janis and her husband Grant Whatford, as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bill (1991) and two daughters Edith VanHees (2001), and Debra McSloy (1954). A celebration of Hilda’s life will be held at the Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd. (1 block east of Egerton), on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., the Rev. Keith McKee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. As an adoptee, Hilda’s passion was for adopted children.
