Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful remembrances here. I recall many of the names from when I lived at home in the 60's. I'm sure there would have been more condolences except that dad had already lost many good friends. A special thanks to the nursing home worker who offered such kind words. We couldn't be with dad near the end so it's very consoling to know he was with people who really cared. Your note was a source of great comfort to my sisters and me. We appreciate it more than you can know.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My Dad (Lester Rundle) worked with John at Jones for more years than I can remember and Rick and I were lucky to have also known John through Jones for a short period of time prior to his retirement. We always heard people comment that John was a great man who worked hard and took pride in his work and his family. Our sincere sympathy goes out to John's family. Rick and Allison Hunter (nee Rundle)

What a great man! My grandfather John always had a such a magnetic personality that left me and probably many others hanging on his every word. Despite living an hour and a half away he always took a great interest in mine and my families lives and was a fantastic listener, speaker and always was able to offer fantastic advice. I would visit him monthly and we would sit there and talk for hours about his life and experiences, his triumphs and mistakes and I was always a completely captive audience. He just seemed to be the type of man and character that I would love to model my own life after. I really put him up high on a pedestal where he rightly belonged. He was just so interesting, understanding and just made others feel so comfortable and at ease in his presence. He passed down so much knowledge and wisdom to me, and I am so much better off having known him. I miss him sooooo much and always told him that I would be a complete wreck when he passed but he would always reassure me that he lived a wonderful and complete life so don't feel bad for him. He was just the perfect grandfather and there will always have a huge void with him gone. I just cant say enough good things about him, have been thinking about him constantly, I just adored the person he was. I will never forget him nor will I let my family forget what a truly amazing man he was, the best, heaven is so lucky to get him now. Will always look up to you Pop! Special thanks to my father John and mother Nancy for all the help they gave him in his last years but above all his daughter and my aunt Debbie who was there to assist with his every need and supported him in every way possible, and he would tell me every time I was down how helpful and amazing she was, she gave him every bit of herself she could. Thanks Debbie for everything, he had so much gratitude for everything you did for him. Bye Pop

Our family lived next door to John for many years. In fact, John built our house. John was a wonderful neighbour and a great friend. We would stop from time to time to see John and he was always so happy to chat and reminisce about years gone by. John was a kind man and the world needs more people like him. May he rest in peace.
