Obituary of Alexandra Makris

Peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family, in her 95th year, Alexandra reunited with her one true love, her husband Stavros Makris. Survived by her devoted children, Helen Konstadakos (Nick), Katie Bujouves (Angelo), and Gary Makris. Adored by her eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the last surviving sibling of her Hrisikos Family: Nikolaos Hrisikos (Irene), Maria Kritikos (Nikolaos), Christina Athanasakos (John), Panayioti Hrisikos (Elli) and Evanthia Labrinos (Stratis). Alexandra Makris arrived in Canada on her own in 1956. She left Gorani, Sparta Greece, for a better life. She met and married her love Stavros, and they created an incredible life together. Opening their home in the 1960’s as the first point of stay for all of her siblings, cousins, and friends. Alexandra’s legacy as a true Spartan Warrior was not only to raise three loving children, but to pass that love, strength, and determination to her eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Every one of them benefited greatly by having her incredible fortitude and strength, while seeing a loving, playful and giving Yiayia. She will sadly be missed by all who were blessed to know her. The Makris family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, and PSWs at Victoria hospital Westminister Campus for her exceptional care. Special mention of Dr. Shiraz Malik for helping facilitate her wishes of dying in her home. Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo & Colborne St.), on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 6-9pm (Prayers in the Logan Chapel at 8pm). Funeral service will be conducted in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Demetre Mouselimis officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery. Donations to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated by the family.
