Obituary of Marie Kathleen Cilirine Furlong
August 2, 1931-June 2, 2021
Peacefully, on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at LHSC, Victoria Hospital, Marie Kathleen Cilirine Furlong (née Hickey) passed away. Predeceased by her parents Joseph John Hickey and Philomene (O’Brien) Hickey. Brothers Emedia Hickey, Charlie Hickey, sister Margarat Wilcox, all of Jacquet River, New Brunswick, son Wayne Santsche and grandson Lyonel Mossey. Dear mother of Joseph "Bev" (Nancy) Furlong, Al (Bonnie) Furlong, Carmel (Ralph) Mossey, Marlene Mann, Barry Grant (Mary Jean) and Tracey Miller. Loving grandmother of Tracey Miller, Jennifer Brideau, Deanna Mann, Terry Furlong, Taunua Fletcher, Laura Grant, Becky Grant and Jazmine Mossey. Great-grandmother of Shilanda Sirakova, Kurt Gamracy, Mackenzie Moir, Jadelyn Mann, Caine Furlong and Carter Furlong. Aunt of Ronnie, Randy, Wayne, Doug, Heather, Debbie and Judy. Fondly remembered by Rob, Richard, Jones and Jadie Bug. Forever in the hearts of her extended family and friends. Her presence was a celebration of life, her quiet confidence, her zest for life, her love of family, her passion for friendship and celebration, an inspiration. Elegancy dressed to light up the night. Her family and friends remember her as a light in their lives. A firecracker of a lady. Often described as "beautiful, kind and generous". Mom’s departure leaves a huge hole in our lives and everyone who was a part of her journey, she loved to dance and sing. Her desire for life kept us going. Her friends say it best. When she clutched your hand and pulled you close, you listened, sometimes she was telling you a joke, sometimes she was sharing sage words of wisdom. Whichever it was, she made you feel lucky to be her friend. Full of love and laughter, Kathleen this quote from "A Return to Love" for us describes you best. "We are all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light to shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Thank you for lighting up our lives. As Tina Turner sang mom "YOU’RE SIMPLY THE BEST".
Gone dancing with Jesus.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations to My Sisters’ Place.
