Obituary of Ann Weldon Lowry
Ann Lowry was born in London, Ontario December 31, 1927. Her four children were with her when she died at home in her sleep on Saturday July 27, 2013, age 85.
Adored wife of Ben Hugh Lowry (d. 1991), daughter of Laura Margaret (Mardie) Black Weldon (d. 1978) and Douglas Black Weldon (d. 1980). Sister of Marcia Jane Gould (d. 2009) and survived by her brother David Black Weldon.
Ann is survived by her children Laura Buchanan of Arva, and sons Si Lowry and Wendy in Orillia, Chris Lowry and Deb in Toronto and Graeme Lowry and Kelly in Arva, her granchildren Allison and Nick Buchanan, Thea Cameron and Matt, Ben Lowry and Gillian, Martha Lowry, Will and John Lowry, Mac, Hugh and Russell Lowry, and her great-grandchildren Georgia Cameron and Ivy Lowry.
Ann served on the boards of the London Regional Art Gallery, Huron College, Fanshawe Pioneer Village, and the London Community Foundation where she was a founding member. In the 60s she was a dedicated volunteer with social services such as Save The Children and Maycourt.
In her youth she rode with the London Hunt, and loved Tennis well into her 70’s. She was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where she served as editor of the UWO Gazette. She went on to receive her Masters in Journalism at Columbia University in New York, where she met and fell in love with Ben Lowry. They shared an affection for gardens, warm fires, travel and life in the country where they built a home that always welcomed their family and friends.

Visitation 5 to 8 pm Tuesday July 30, at home, 14104 Medway Road. Funeral 11 am Wednesday July 31, 2013 at Saint John the Divine Anglican Church, Arva (corner of Richmond St. and Medway Rd.)
