Very rarely does your "boss" become your friend. Carol achieved this with me and --so easily. She was always thoughtful, responsible, but quick to see the funny side of life. --a true gem.

I was very saddened to hear of Carol's passing. We have been friends and colleagues for over forty years. How quickly time passes. When I first assumed the position of Public Health Liaison Nurse at London Psychiatric Hospital, I was one of four. Along with Carol, there was also Vi Spooner and May Mills who have both passed away in recent years. My position was initially held by Liz Mignotte, another long time friend of both Carol's and myself. I have many happy memories of time spent with those nurses on various educational trips. Carol was a great support and I will always be grateful to her for her kindness. After we had both retired from the hospital, we stayed connected with a core number of the Psychogeriatric team, and made a point of getting together at least four times a year for lunch. On more than one occasion, Carol invited us to her pretty home on Thornton Ave. for a potluck luncheon, which we thoroughly enjoyed along with her lovely backyard. Carol and I shared her love of all creatures great and small, and we often discussed challenges with our dogs. She is gone too soon and will be greatly missed. Judy Seaman

Dear Family , we are sad with you. Kerry and Kit Benson began their friendship with Carol in the 1960s, when Kit worked with Carol as a VON., here in London. The fearsome foursome were Carol, Kit, Jane Munn and Connie Pangman! Their lives included many dinner parties, the miniatures , and a good general life together as friends . Kerry says Carol was an amazing friend and she was so wise- we often asked Carol for her thoughts about things. When Kit Benson was dying at home in 2000, Carol was a significant presence for Kerry and the family . He wont ever forget her for that. And Carol was a wonderful , safe friend for Kerry after Kit died. It was Carol who helped Kerry find the condo he moved to...they investigated several. The decision for him was made when they looked at each other and she said, Theres only one that works, isnt there? She listened to her friends needs (as always) . When Kerry and I (Brenda) met, Carol folded me in and for 20 years we have been good friends too. We always had lots to talk about and joke about; had terrific phone calls; shared tough thoughts too. She was a loyal friend - honest and fun. Kerry and I enjoyed lovingly celebrating with her at her 80th Birthday at Susans . We 3 shared a love of perfectly-roasted rare prime rib, nice wine , and Even hot dogs! ...(perfect segue): on July 6/2020, as Kerry and I sat for our chicken dinner , there was a knock at the aptmt door. In came Carol, house gift and wine in hand saying Where are the hot dogs!? She was very sure that we had set a date (July 6) for a hot dog dinner during a conversation on the phone! Well, according to my calendar , our last chat ( incl. about our wanting hot dogs)had been in early March! Of course She stayed for chicken and we had a gay ol time ! Then she hopped in a cab and went home after 2 great hours together . Well remember that visit now as a last wonderful gift of time with our beloved friend . We hold you all in our hearts , and we shall profoundly miss this wonderful woman Carol. Peace, Brenda and Kerry Benson

Carol was a fellow long time member of the lunch bunch. We will miss her wit and stories of past days in the geriatric program at LPH. Rest in peace Carol.
