Obituary of Frederick William Smithers Sr.
Peacefully, with family by his side on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at home, Frederick William Smithers Sr. passed away at the age of 80. Beloved husband of 59 years to Nancy Smithers (née Jarvis). Dear Dad of Nancy Martin (Larry), Frederick Jr. (Nicolas Walmsley) and Danny (Kim). Grandfather of Jennifer Mitchell (Nick), Amanda Milne (Scott McDonald), Nicholas Milne (Dana). Great-grandfather of Mark Mitchell, Emma Milne, Morgan Milne, Logan Milne, Liam Milne and Arizona Milne. Brother of Marilyn & Jerry (Eileen). Forever in the hearts of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Fred was a devoted member of the London Fanshawe Horticultural Society and the Thames River Anglers. Past member of London Horticultural Society. Fred volunteered for the Western Fair and the Salvation Army and was a member at Large at the Western Fair for 20 years. Fred also served as an usher along with numerous other responsibilities at Knollwood Baptist Church and will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, London, Ontario (between Waterloo & Colborne St.), on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Knollwood Baptist Church, 800 Cheapside Street, London, Ontario on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the time of the service.
Interment in Dorchester Union Cemetery, Dorchester, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to ChildCan in memory of Fred.
