Obituary of Ilona Balogh (Halasz)
We are sad to announce the death of Ilona at University Hospital on October 7, 2018 in her 94th year. Born in Kiskunhalas, Hungary, she immigrated to Canada in 1957 with her husband and children.
Beloved wife of the late Dr. Lajos Balogh (2016). Predeceased by her sisters; Katalin (Halasz) (1945) of Hungary, Eva Beregi (2016) of Switzerland and brothers; Antoine Halasz (1969) of France and Bela Halasz (2014) of Hungary. Loving mother of seven children; Kathy Kalopsis (George), Louis Balogh (Sandra), Eva Quigley, Zoltan Balogh (Janice), Gabor Balogh (Valerie), Tibor Balogh (Lorraine) and Peter Balogh (Karen). Cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: Grandchildren; Chris Kalopsis (Tasha), Michael Balogh (Carolyn), Andrew Balogh (Maureen), Mike Kalopsis, Brian Balogh, Colleen Waring, Allison Cassar (Scott), Eva Balogh (Tim), Laura Dodman (Brandon), Jeffery Balogh, Alex Balogh, Kurtis Balogh (Keira), Justin Balogh (Emily), Julia Balogh, Alaina Balogh, Miklos Balogh and Kendra Balogh: Great-grandchildren; David Balogh, Charlotte Waring, Annabelle Waring, Olivia Cassar, Oscar Balogh, Stella Cassar, Kate Dodman (deceased 2013), Layla Dodman, Isobel Balogh and Trevor Dodman. Also remembered by her sister-in-law Eva Halasz, her nieces Eva and Ildiko and many relatives in Hungary.
Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo & Colborne St.), on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 10-11am. A Celebration of Ilona's Life will follow in the Logan Chapel at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place later at Woodland Cemetery.
