Obituary of Nikolaos "Nick" Kalantzis
Peacefully, with family by his side, at Victoria Hospital, London, on Monday, October 23, 2017, Nick Kalantzis, of Woodstock, passed away in his 84th year, after battling Pulmonary Lung Disease. Loved by his wife Anna (Kourlas) Kalantzis, for over 57 years; his son Peter Kalantzis & wife Hionia "Snowy" of Woodstock and Marianne & husband Andrew Karagias of Markham. Cherished grandfather of Nicolas Kalantzis, Dean (Kayley) Kalantzis & Connor Karagias. Dearly loved by his siblings Thanasis (Georgia) Kalantzis, Elizabeth Efstatheu, Gus (Georgia) Kalantzis & Demetra (Peter) Dalmakis and predeceased by brother George (Georgia) Kalantzis & brother-in-law Peter Efstatheu. Also survived by several nieces & nephews.
Nick was the longtime restauranteur for over 45 years and best known for owning Nick's Truck Stop in Eastwood (east of Woodstock), the birthplace of the "Homeburger". Loved by many customers and regulars who came to sit, eat and socialize. Outside of the restaurant he was best known for his love for the outdoors - mainly boating and fishing in Long Point. He also spent many summers vacationing abroad in his homeland of Greece.
Visitation will be held at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street (between Waterloo St. & Colborne St.), London, on Thursday from 7-9 pm. (Prayers at 8pm). Funeral service will be conducted at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., London, on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Demetre Mouselimis officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London.
