Obituary of John George "Bing" Humphrey
Passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at LHSC – University Hospital with family at his side.
Cherished husband to the late Eileen Humphrey (Murphy) and much loved father to Donna Norton (Jim) and Margo Barber (Bill). Proud Grandpa to Peter John Brown and Great Grandson Matthew Brown. John will be sadly missed by his brother William "Bill" Humphrey of Windsor, many nephews and nieces and friends across Canada. John was predeceased by brothers Ralph, Asa, Robert and sisters Ester and Ruth.
John was a WW 2 Veteran and served with the Merchant Navy from 1941-1946. After the war he went to work for Canada Dry Beverages in Windsor, Ontario as a Driver Salesman and advanced to Sales Manager. He retired in 1985 as Director of Franchise Operations from Canada Dry Limited Head Office in Downsview, Ontario.
"Bing" was an avid hunter, photographer, gardener and arborist. He planted hundreds of trees during his lifetime. He also made terrific sauerkraut and horseradish.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Bing’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or memorial service.
