Obituary of George Scriven Sillifant
George Scriven Sillifant aged 93 passed away peacefully March 24th with his family by his side. Married to Dorothy for 68 years and loving father to Carolyn (deceased), Andrea and Janet. Grandad to Benjamin O'Reilly. Fondly remembered by the Marsden, Paquet and Uren families. George was born in London Ontario and attended Riverside Public School. He often told stories of growing up on Forward Avenue by the Thames River. George and his mother moved to England in 1938 where he met Dorothy after the war. After marrying, George and Dorothy returned to London where he joined the London Police force for a career spanning 31 years. While working George took night classes at UWO and was proud to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree one course at a time after 15 years. George had many interests including playing the violin, photography, calligraphy, bird watching and walks in Springbank Park. Upon retirement George was a volunteer with the Kiwanis club and an active member of the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging at Western University. While he wanted to live until 100, he had a good long life. We will miss him terribly including his teasing and corny jokes.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
