Played football with Tom in Brantford in 1973. He was our quarterback and leader. I enjoyed blocking for Tom. He had a great arm and we had a great season. Glad to have met Tom. My condolences to his family.

Dear Bill, I was extremely saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I have so many fond memories of you and Tom and our trips in the 80's. Those were wonderful times. I have a couple of pictures of you two from those days in Barbados. I could email them to you if you'd like. Where have the years gone?? I'm down in Florida and was unable to attend the memorial. I would have been there for sure. Tommy was a good guy who touched a lot of people. My memories of him will always be with me. You have my sincere condolences Bill. I hope you and the families are doing ok through all this. It simply sucks. My thoughts are with you, Larry

I just wanted to send along my condolences to Tom's family and in particular to Bill. I'll be forever grateful to you both for being like local Uncles to Brian and I . The experience I had with GPS and Tom' s campaign and Ian's business in Woodstock were extremely fun and formative for me for my life. The friends and times I had because of your generosity and friendship, I owe to you and Tom and the collegial atmosphere you always shared. Thanks guys, and my deepest condolences to everyone there close to Tom. Neil

Hi Billy, Stunned to hear of Tom's passing. Living out of town, I never even heard that he was sick, let alone had cancer. Really makes you realize that our time here is shorter rather than longer. Yikes. Your brother was one of a kind. Not many can say they have been mayor of any city or town, let alone one as large as London. And he did a great job at it at such a young age no less. I well remember the during a wintery night in 1977 when he was a waiter at the Keg and I owned the Pinball Palace across the street. He came in after his shift one night around 11 and I only had 1 or 2 customers in the store. He came in and told me about his political ambitions and wanted my opinion. I thought quite frankly that he was stretching it to want to become a major politician from being in the position of a waiter in a steakhouse but I knew that your dad had been Mayor so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He obviously had a sense of the political ropes better than I did. Never the less he told me that he ultimately wanted to be a provincial politician but he didn't know if he should try to run for city council first? I guess he valued my advice and wanted to bounce it off of me. We spent a couple of hours playing pinball and talking about it. My advice eventually was to go provincial right away if that's where he wanted to end up. You know, start at the top so to speak. He wisely rejected my advice, ran for council next election and got elected. The rest is history, and a glorious history it is. He left his mark and made a difference not only in his private life but also in his public life. How great that he will leave in his children and those who knew him his traits of love and pride. Through them he will live and in their love abide. Sincerely, Robby

My thought and prayers are with Tom's wife and family at this sad time. Tom was a gentleman. Before the paving business and when his parents lived on Wharncliffe Road South, Tom had Gosnell Hutchison and we worked for them doing lifeguard duties around the city. I remember coming to a pool party at the Gosnell home many years ago. I also ran into him many times at City Hall. He will be missed.

It is with great sadness that my children, Stephanie and James and myself, heard about the passing of Tom. He was a great friend of my deceased husband, Tom Syme. They were good friends while at Laurier High School and continued their friendship in later years while conducting business in a variety of ventures including Air Ontario and Diamond (initially named Dimona) Aircraft. I believe they were an inspiration to each other during their successful careers. May Tom rest in peace. He will never be forgotten.

Debbie and I extend our sincerest condolences to Pam, Bill and families. Tom was never far from our memory as we have a picture of Tom hanging in our hallway. He is in his leader's pose ready to launch a pass during a Laurier Ram football game. I was there blocking for him. The distance and time has not dimmed the fond memories we have of Tom, Bill and Pam. You are in our hearts during this time of grief.
