Obituary of Nicholas Kyriakos
Peacefully passed away on October 16, 2014 at the age of 83 after battling a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Maria (Moulopoulos) son Constantine and wife Mary Kyriakos of Santa Rosa, California and daughter Alexandra and husband Tom Kapsales of Toronto. Papou Niko is sadly missed by his six grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicholas, and Christopher of Santa Rosa, California and Sophie, Christian and Daphne of Toronto.
Born in Nemea, Greece in March 1930 to the late Andreas and Kostoula (Smaragdis) Kyriakos. Niko emigrated to Canada in 1955 where he began his life’s work in the restaurant business. He was part of a large wave of young Greek Men who came to North America in the 1950’s and changed the face of the restaurant and hospitality industry in towns like London.
He leaves behind his brother Anastasios and wife Anna, his sister Maria and husband Constantine Tzanis, brothers-in-law George Moulopoulos & his wife Katerina all of London and Iereas Kyriakos Moulopoulos & his wife Magdalene of Greece. He is predeceased by sisters Anastasia, Efthemia and brother Constantine.
Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and friends for his good humour, love of Greek music and food. The family would like to thank University Hospital for their care during the last ten years.
Friends will be received at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo & Colborne St.) on Tuesday from 6 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Father Elias Drossos officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Prayers will be held in the chapel Tuesday evening at 8 p.m.
