Friends. They come and they go. Some leave an impression; others leave an actual mark on your heart. Life, being like a river takes us through calm times, times with rapids and of course the falls. Sometimes quickly moving and at other times so slowly one thinks they are stuck. Friends help us through all of these times. Sometimes as an anchor when the waters are turbulent and at times to give us a push when we seen to be in waters that are not moving and they know we can be so much more. The friends that really matter are patient and kind, always waiting in the background, always there. Always knowing that life is lived differently by each person and always available for the few moments that life grants us all to enjoy the friendship. James, you were never judgmental, always ready to help, forever smiling threw the tough times . . . James, you have left this life way too early, I hope you know you were one of those special friends. James, Know that you are Loved.

We were shocked to hear of the passing of James. He was truly a great man! Jan,our thoughts are with you and your family. I had the honour of working closely with James during my time with NOS on several projects including Nerds Backup. During those times I got to know a man that would bend over backwards to help anyone who needed help. I was able to witness his passion for dragonboat racing, and his love for his family. I am blessed to have had his friendship. He will be missed dearly!

I had the honour and pleasure of knowing James for about 10 years. During that time I never heard James complain about anything or say an unkind word about anyone. He was always looking to help others and he put people in his life ahead of himself. I recall the day about 2 months ago when James and I met for coffee for a NOS backup project that he was helping me with for the organization I am currently associated with. It was that day that he told me the doctors had just advised him he had cancer. But in typical fashion for James --- his focus was on me and the project. Despite my requests to worry about himself and his health, he said he had already briefed the NOS team on the backup project and I would be looked after. And for a few weeks after, James continued to touch base with me periodically to make sure things were still progressing with the backup project. I am only guessing but I am sure that James was looking after people right to the end. Jan and the family probably had to finally pry his blackberry and computer away from him. The world has lost an amazing man. If there is some consolation --- he no longer has to suffer from this terrible disease. And heaven just gained a tremendous IT guy! You will always be missed but never forgotten James. My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to Jan and the entire family.

I knew Jim from cadets and I will likely always remember him as a smiling teenager. He worked very hard and always had his heart in the right place. I am sure he will be missed by his family and I hope it helps to know that he is thought of as a fine good and descent man. A good soul and a spirit that filled the room. He is remembered and will be missed.

My Thoughts and prayers to his family, He will be deeply missed. Stephen McLeish - Canada - September 15, 6:52:34 PM The story of James Keenleyside-Richter and I go as far back as my second ReBoot Camp in Montreal. Before then, I knew him as the VOICE of NerdaBackup; this weekend, we shared a hotel room, so I got to know him not just as the FACE of NerdsBackup, but a good friend - we had lots in common and lots to talk about. We kept in touch more than weekly, as he was genuinely interested in my personal and professional success. When I travelled to London to pick up my NerdMobile, he invited me to stay at his place with his family, as we attended a ReBoot in Burlingon. He made sure I was equipped for driving the NerdMobile back home, which would be a two day drive. He ensured that I checked in every time I got to make sure I was safe. We shared a room again at Calgary's ReBoot, and the friendship grew. Most recently, my latest trip to NerdFest started with him picking me up from the airport and bringing me to Waterloo, and ended with him inviting me again to his home to stay until he could drive me back to the airport the day after NerdFest. All in all, James was selfless, and genuinely interested in doing all he could to not only ensure my success, but that of everyone he spoke to, in person or on the phone. He's a man who did what he said he would, and an example of a man who does faith 100%, family 100% and business 100%, simultaneously. He's a good friend who will be forever missed, not just by me, and the rest of the Nerds family, but the world as a whole. Good night, James. Be well now. James Perih - Canada - September 15, 2:12:13 PM Very Sad news indeed! James will be Missed, the last time I saw him was March 2011 Reboot in Calgary, and I unfortunately did not see him again before he left us (but have made a few Nerds backup calls to him, He Always answered and never sent me to voicemail) In March I remember he was asking me How I was Growing my Business and How my wife Julianne was helping me, He had a plan that once his wife Retired He was going to have her work for him so HE COULD HELP the TEAM MORE! He was always looking out for US, HIS TEAM, and How we could HELP US More!
