Obituary of Frederick Douglas Balcom
With his family by his side, Frederick Douglas Balcom, in his 83rd year, died quietly at L.H.S.C., Westminster Campus on January 26th, 2008. Beloved husband for 60 years to Jean (Johnson), loving father of Daniel (Mary), Cheryl Ann, and Jim (Nancy). Fred will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Shane (Erica), Jennifer (Colin), Kristen and David, and great-granddaughter Natalya. Predeceased by his siblings Vane (Marg) and Blanche (Frank). Fred will be sadly missed by Audrey and Stan Savage, Murray and Zella Johnson and many nieces and nephews. Fred was born October 17, 1925 in Vienna, Ontario. He attended Aylmer High School and graduated as an air gunner during WWII. Fred was a partner at Poole Electronics for many years and was an active member of the Clock Club and Radio Club. Fred was also a member of the Elmwood Lawn Bowling Club. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial gathering at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo and Colborne St.) on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 1:30 pm with visitation ½ hour prior. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cardiac Fitness Institute at L.H.S.C., P.O. Box 5010, London, N6A 9Z9, would be appreciated. Online condolences www.loganfh.ca
