Obituary of Dimitrios (Jim) Vogiatzis

Dimitrios (Jim) Vogiatzis peacefully returned to his heavenly home on Sunday April 26th 2015 on his 90th birthday with his loving family by his side in London, Ontario. Dimitrios was the beloved husband of Martha Vogiatzis for 56 years, and devoted father to Virginia Galbraith and her husband John, and Apostolos Vogiatzis and his wife Helen. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his three grandchildren, Maria, Christina, and Dimitrios Vogiatzis, his sisters Violet Chelonis and her late husband George, and Helen Sinioris and her husband Vlasios, and his many nieces and nephews. Joyfully, he has been reunited in heaven with his loved ones who preceded him in death: his parents, Virginia and John; his sister, Katina; his brothers, George, Apostolos and Exarhos; and his beloved grandson, Anastasios Vogiatzis. Dimitrios was born in Volos, Greece on April 26th, 1925, and immigrated to Canada in 1955. He was a good and generous man with a peaceful soul, a strong faith in the Lord, and a kind heart that touched the lives of all he encountered. His love for others was boundless and unconditional, and he lived his life honestly and humbly with God by his side. He had a passion for music and was a lovely guitarist with a beautiful voice. His life on earth was genuine and whole, and it continues everlastingly in the Kingdom of Heaven. Family and friends will be lovingly received at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. on Tuesday, April 28th from 6-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Road W on Wednesday, April 29th at 11:30 am with Father Elias Drossos officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
