Dear Evelyn, In 1960 as a senior intern I encountered Gerry as one of the impressive group of consultants on 3CF in University Hospital and appreciated his teaching. Ultimately we became colleagues when I joined the UH staff. I recall the great parties you hosted in your elegant stylish home. We were sorry to lose you to Ontario but know he made a great contribution in London. Marg and I send our sincere sympathies.

Dear Evelyn, I was so very sorry to read the obituary in the Globe a few days ago. I thought about how much my mother adored you and Gerry and how gracious and supportive you both were when Mom became ill. I would just like you to know that you are in my thoughts. I am well. I have two sons who are now 21 and almost 19...sons my mother never met. You and Gerry were so blessed to have seen your grandchildren which I don't think I need to tell you! I live in Toronto and 5 years ago I re-married! I have a wonderful second husband named Norman Inkster who came with 3 children and 7 grandchildren so lots of family. My sister Melissa lives in Vancouver with her partner Heidy and they are hands-on Aunties to my boys. I think of you often when I make it down to London...you have always been the glamorous Mrs. Chertkow! Fondly, Pam

Dear Howard, a members of the Chertkow family: I was very sorry to read in the paper this evening (Tuesday, 23rd April) of your father's passing. In 1973, as an Internal Medicine resident I worked on Dr. Chertkow's team at Victoria Hospital and experienced his exceptional care for his patients, his thoroughness, and his sensitivity and kindness. I am sure that he must have been very proud of your academic career and many successes. Unfortunately, because of my clinical commitments, I am unable to attend his service to-morrow. I did however want to express to you, and the family, my deepest sympathies at this time of loss for you all. Sincerely, Paul
