Obituary of Zef Kurti

Suddenly, at Victoria Hospital, on Sunday, February 4, 2018, Mr. Zef Kurti passed away in his 64th year. Zef Kurti was born in Shkodra, Albania on March 31st, 1953. The son of Palokë and Tinka Kurti, Zef grew up in a family of artists. He graduated from the Albanian University of Arts, in Tirana with a diploma in acting. It was at the Migjeni Theatre of Shkodra where he first took to the stage, and later at the National Theatre for Children in Tirana where he gave life to countless characters beloved by many young spectators. During this period he raised a loving family with his wife Araksi, welcoming two sons: Paul and Glen. During the 1990s Zef managed the Christian radio station "Illyria". In 2000, Zef began a new chapter of his life when he and his family moved to Canada, settling in London, Ontario. His strong work ethic, and deep love for his family, was the compass that guided him in this new country. Zef had a passion for arts, music, history, science, and technology; he could always be found with a book in hand, feeding his endless curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Above all, he was unwavering in his love of God and dedication to his faith. Throughout his life, Zef touched those around him with his simplicity, patience, generosity, honesty, and kindness. His contagious sense of optimism will be the greatest gift he leaves behind for Araksi (his loving wife of 37 years), sons Glen and Paul (with wife Julie), mother Tinka, and extended family and friends in Albania, Canada, Italy, and the United States. Visitation will be held at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, (between Waterloo & Colborne St.) on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m..
