Obituary of George Chelonis

Peacefully and with dignity as he lived his life, on Monday July 16, 2012. George Chelonis, of London, in his 89th year. Loving husband of Violet Chelonis. Cherished, admired and much-loved father of Anna (Paul Giannopoulos), Virginia (Jim Giannoulis), Peter (Betty Tselonis), John (Michelle Chelonis) and Jeannie Chelonis. Precious Papou to his adoring grandchildren Theo, George, Billy, George, Georgio, Marika, Grace and Ben. He is survived by his sister Eleni in Greece, brother Father James (Diane Chelonis), John (Christina Chelonis). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Panagiotis and Anna, and his stepmother Demitra. George was born in Koutsi, Nemea, Greece, and he immigrated to Canada in 1951. George touched the lives of all who knew him and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home 371 Dundas St. (between Waterloo & Colborne St.), on Wednesday from 6-9pm. Trisagion Prayers Wednesday 8pm. Funeral service will be conducted in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Rd. W., on Thursday, July 19th, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Demetrios Chelonis, Father Elias Drossos, officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery. In George’s memory, donations can be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, which he held dearly to his heart.
