Obituary of Thelma Slipacoff
Thelma Slipacoff age 85, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on February 22nd, 2010 at the St. Josephs Hospice, Sarnia. Predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Slipacoff (1997). Survived by her 5 children, Daniel Slipacoff (Julie) of Toronto, Shelley Werger (Jerry) of Toronto, Lennie Slipacoff (Cindy), Lawry Slipacoff (Tricia), Jill Slipacoff (Brian Greenough). Twelve grandchildren, Stephanie Slipacoff, Susan Slipacoff (Craig Leonard), Lisa Jarrett, Mark Jarrett, Michelle Barish (Brian), Sean Werger (Karen), Howard Werger (Jessy), Tyler, Craig and Ryan Slipacoff, Lindsay Cournoyer (Jesse) and Doug Slipacoff. Five great grandchildren, Benny and Marlo, Samantha, Alyssa and Kaia. Thelma was a very dedicated and passionate fundraiser for Hadassah-Wizo raising money for numerous charities in Canada and Israel. Locally her charitable work has helped raise funds for the new Bluewater Health Hospital. She was the president of the Hadassah-Wizo and on the National Board. Thelma’s passion included her family, her charitable work, watching and playing tennis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph Hospice, Sarnia, Bluewater Health and Hadassah-Wizo (1-866-937-9431). The family would like to thank the incredible team of nurses and doctors at Bluewater Health and London Health Science Center and a special thank you to the team of nurses, Dr. Glenn Madison, Dr. Monique Dostler and personal support care workers and volunteers at St. Joseph Hospice, Sarnia. Their dedication and compassionate care shown to our mother, helped to comfort our family through this difficult time. We will always be very greatful. Funeral Service will be held at Or Shalom Synagogue Tuesday February 23, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. with Rabbi A. Chorny Officiating. Interment at Or Shalom Cemetery.
