Obituary of Panayiotis (Peter) Tzounakos

Courageously, surrounded by family, Panayiotis (Peter) Tzounakos passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at L.H.S.C.-Victoria Hospital in his 85th year. Born in Tseria, Lakonia, Greece on April 2, 1931 to Konstantinos & Anastasia Tzounakos. Devoted husband of 55 years to Stavroula Tzounakos. Loving father of Anastasia, Koula (Jim) Logan and Aristotelis (Sherri) Tzounakos. Loved by his 2 wonderful granddaughters Stavroula and Despina. Esteemed brother of Petro and his family, Agni and her family. Predeceased by sister Despina and brothers Dimitri, Stefanos and Aristotelis, and brothers-in-law George, Antonis and Anastasios. Beloved brother-in-law of Dimitra Delagrammaticas and family. Forever in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Panayiotis (Peter) will always be remembered as a selfless, caring, generous, humble, grateful, devoted, hard working restaurant entrepreneur who enjoyed watching sports and cooking in his spare time and deeply loved all of his family and friends and was very proud of his Greek heritage. Panayiotis served in the Korean war, along with serving overseas as a dedicated, courageous lieutenant of Greece's military where he received awards and medals including a medal for bravery. Panayiotis immigrated to Canada in 1959 where met his loving wife and best friend Stavroula. Panayiotis will be remembered for his big heart and jovial ways and will be deeply missed by all of his children, family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of C.C.A.C and London Health Sciences Centre for all their care and support. Friends will be received at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street (between Waterloo and Colborne), on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox, 131 Southdale Road, London, Ontario on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Elias Drossos officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery, London, Ontario. Prayers will be held on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. in the Logan Chapel.
