Dear Bob, It was with great sadness that I read about Susan's passing. While I did not know her really well, we had many lovely chats, the latest at the Breakfast Meeting for Women event on March 27th at the London Convention Centre. And, I have been searching for her at the Canadian Club of London meetings. Susan was a dear Lady, and I will miss her vibrant and gentle presence. May God bless you and your family as you grieve for Susan. Sincerely, Sheila Stevenson

Dear Bob. Sarah and William I was in a parking lot in Cowichan Bay, B.C. when we finally got a good signal and read an email from my son Cam that Susan had died. While it wasn't a complete shock - I had been speaking with Sarah just b efore I left on Wed. - but it was a very heart-rending message. I was so sorry not have been to her funeral. I understand from Mina Thaler Adeland that Susan knew at The Meal that she only had weeks - what a brave woman? And that is how I will remember her - as brave (throughout your home robberty) and at other times; as a wag who could tell you something you needed to know with great good humour and laughter; as someone willing to help in any circumstance; small but mighty! My daughter, who was with me on the Vancouver Island trip, pulled up the obituary from the Free Press and read it to me: I looked at my watch and it was at 1:15 London time on Saturday, so I was thinking of her at an important time. I will miss her on The Meal Committee and I will miss her at times when something happens and I think "I must talk to Susan Earley about that". My sincere condolences to you all...Jane Cunningham

Bob, Sarah, William. I'm so sorry to hear of Susan's passing. I fondly remember the times when I lived next door, my first "employer" as I was allowed to baby-sit. The dogs that would bark at the door, then run as soon as Susan would speak up to them. She had such a positive outlook on life and lived it to the fullest. She rocked the scarves that she wore and battled as best she could. My thoughts and prayers to all of you at this difficult time.

Bob, I just heard moments ago about Susan's passing and my heart has sunk. I didn't even know she was ill. I am so sorry. As you know, I just loved talking with her and appreciate so much the laughs and her encouragement throughout the years. She is a one-of-a-kind lady with a wonderful sense of humor and a class that is lost in this next generation. Even though our time together wasn't plentiful, she made a significant impact on me and was always a friendly face in a crowded room (as are you). Huge virtual hug.

We were very sorry to learn of your mother's death but are glad to know her final illness was swift. It was such a long time since her cancer first emerged that I guess we all thought it was conquered. Your mother was very kind to our children years ago when they all romped around Grand Bend together. She had a good sense of humour and was friendly and welcoming to everyone at Grand Bend. We look back fondly on all those summers of sitting on the beach with her, talking and keeping an eye on the young swimmers. It is nice to know that you both, William and Sarah, are settled with spouses and good jobs and I'm sure that was a source of pride and comfort to your mother. Our sympathy is with you.
