Obituary of Helen Alice Vickers
Helen Alice Manax Vickers was born on September 2, 1929 and peacefully went home to be with her Savior on November 21, 2023. She was born to John and Ettie May Manax in London, Ontario. She grew up in a close loving Greek family. She loved her father, mother and all her siblings; Athena, Barbara, John, Stan, and Bill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Vickers (2001) whom she never stopped loving. Also, her father John (1987) and her mother Ettie May (1989) and her siblings; Athena (2004), John (2018), Barbara (2021), and Bill (2022). She was always proud of her family’s accomplishments and lives. She was a devoted mother to Susan, John, and Stanley. She would do anything for her family.
Helen grew up in London, Ontario and married Ronald Vickers in 1948 and together they moved to Barrie, Ontario before moving to Minneapolis, MN, Florida and eventually to Texas. Helen loved Jesus and His Bible and daily could be found reading the Bible every morning with her son, Stanley and later in the evening with her sister, Barbara. She was constantly busy, working for her son’s mortgage business in Orlando, FL, being a hairdresser, while studying Greek, writing a book and even being a part of the “Dancing Grandmothers of Southern Florida.”
She loved and was loved by her many friends around the world and from every place she lived. Up until her passing she carried those friendships with her. She was kind, compassionate and could always be trusted. If you met her, you wanted to be her friend as her heart and home were always open to you. Truly, you were a better person if you were blessed in knowing her.
She was survived by her brother Stan (London, Ontario) and her three children, Susan (San Antonio, TX), John (Peterborough, Ontario) and Stanley (San Antonio, TX) and her four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Helen loved her family. She loved her son-in-law, Michael and her daughter-in-law, Cathy as her own children. She will forever be missed as her generational legacy continues to live on.
