Obituary of Athanasia Koumoutsidis (née Panoskaltsis)

Peacefully passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa, Ontario at the age of 89.

Beloved wife of the late George Koumoutsidis.

Loving mother to Eygenia “Jenny” (Michael Woodford), Peter, and Stavroula (Michael Robb). Cherished Yia Yia to Theodore and Alexander Woodford, Peter Griffith, Georgy and Jimmy Koumoutsidis. Dear sister of Nico, Eleni and Christos. Forever in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She led a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Athanasia's journey from Greece to Canada in 1965, her marriage to George in 1966, and the subsequent years spent building a life together exemplify a rich tapestry of experiences and commitment to family. She spent the last two years of her life living in Ottawa. Athanasia's passion for cooking and gardening added a special touch to our life, creating lasting impressions for those fortunate enough to share in these experiences.  Her specialties included lamb with pasta, gemista, tzatziki, kourabiedes and melomakarona. Her garden was always full of flowers, tomatoes, peppers, herbs and green beans.

~ May her memory be eternal~
