Obituary of Rowena “Ricky” Pasternak (née Wiseman)

On Thursday, March 21st, 2024, our beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and aunt Ricky Pasternak passed away peacefully at LHSC, University Hospital. She was 88 years old. She spent her last day as she lived: cherishing life in the company of close friends, who remained with her until the end.

Ricky was born in North Bay, Ontario and attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec where she met her beloved husband Jack. Ricky practiced for many years in her thriving psychology practice. She and Jack moved to London, Ontario in 2013 and quickly became an integral and dynamic addition to the Jewish community. Ricky was most proud of her two sons, Stephen Pasternak (Andrea Hirscheimer) and Andrew Pasternak (Maxine Katz) and talked of their accomplishments unabashedly. Ricky adored her grandchildren, Emily (Yash Kini), Melissa (Sarah Kippen), Alana and David.

Ricky was the dear aunt of Alan (Donna Sullivan), Barbara, Wendy (Gord Peters) and Karen (Ran Midroni). She was predeceased by her sister Lillian Kosberg along with Lillian’s husband Martin, and sister-in-law Clara Halpern. She is survived by her brother-in-law Norman Halpern.

Funeral service will take place at Or Shalom Synagogue, 534 Huron Street, London, Ontario on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. 

Burial will follow in Or Shalom Cemetery, London, Ontario.

Those who wish may make memorial donations to a charity of choice in memory of Ricky.
