I have so many childhood memories of “the Jude” as her kids often referred to her with me! Her incredible home decorating taste, her introduction to me of broadway play music (“oh yes they’re playing our song, oh yes they’re playing our song…!”), her party extraordinaire for Bram’s bar mitzvah, driving Lisa and I to volleyball practices in the very early am before school began in her fur coat over her nightwear (all our moms did that but Judy did it with the most style!!).
My wish for all of you (Paul, Shari, Lisa and Bram and the rest of your family) is to grieve with all the fabulous memories you have of your lovely wife/mom. I have many more if you want them! She was a force!

Dear Paul and Family,
I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn today of your dear wife and mother Judy's sudden passing. It was just a little over a week ago that Mom and I sat with her in the garden at Highview Residence soaking up the sun and enjoying the beautiful spring day. She told us about the wonderful weekend spent at home and how lovely it was to have a visit with Lisa and her granddaughters. She always spoke of her family and especially her beloved husband. I will never forget the way Judy lit up whenever Paul arrived at Highview. It was clear that they shared a deep and dedicated love. She showed us her special "60 Years of Love" book twice and it was very touching to see. How lucky to have such a love!
Judy was very welcoming and supportive when Mom arrived at Highview. She went out of her way to befriend Mom and to look out for her. She was like a big sister who was sensitive to subtle changes in Mom's behavior and well being. She shared her genuine and kind concerns with me on a number of occasions. Judy and Nancy had a lovely and fun filled friendship, albeit a short one. Mom is missing her "best friend" and is sad and confused by her absence. I will miss Judy too. We shared many lovely conversations and I came to also think of her as a friend. I will remember her with great fondness and gratitude for the friendship she shared with Mom.
Deepest Condolences,
Kim and Nancy Avery

I was sorry to hear of Judy’s passing. I always enjoyed moments that we shared. Just a word or two or a meeting at a store, an open house or a glance and a smile. She had a gift of connecting with anyone and made you feel like you knew her…just a little.
She was very special that was evident. Seeing Paul and Judy out for dinner together after the pandemic, made the world feel right. I will miss that.
It is the small things in life that are most beautiful.
A beautiful life.

Dear Paul, Shari, Lisa & Bram and extended family, I was so saddened to receive notice of Judy's passing. Your family has been intertwined with ours since the late 1950's. Paul first worked on the Market at our family's store & then became the family lawyer. Judy was a good friend of my late Mom & Aunt Edith's. They admired her style and enjoyed watching your family grow up & blossom. I even remember Judy & Paul at my wedding standing out from the crowd! Judy sold our London houses when the families moved to Toronto. It was appropriate that Bram helped sell my parent's condo in Toronto & Paul still handled all the legal work. Shari used to visit my Aunt Edith in Toronto! Judy will be missed. May your wonderful memories bring you all much comfort. BDE Rosette Rutman & family

OBITUARY NOTICES CAN CELEBRATE LIVES WELL LIVED
I try to set aside some time on Wednesday to peruse the obituary notices in the newspaper.
I am not sure why the notices are included in the sport section of the paper? It may be how the deceased played the ultimate end game of life.
The recent obituary in the newspaper re Robert was very impressive re his many accomplishments in medicine. But not one title needed to tell us that he was a medical doctor/ surgeon whose compassion/expertise probably saved thousands of lives who needed his help. A simple funeral service sufficed and not the St Peter’s Basilica with all of the pomp. The clock of life is wound but once. And no man or women has the power to tell when the hands will stop.
To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed. To lose one’s health is more. Remember that the poorest person in the cemetery is the one who died rich and lived poor ignoring the plight of those in need.
The present is yours to enjoy. Place no faith in tomorrow for the clock may then may be still.
So, what do you want your obituary to say about you in the newspaper?
Len Lesser, Dorchester.

Paul - our heartfelt condolences to you and your family in the passing of Judy - a lady of immaculate style !
We remember her great generosity and the support she gave when we first came to live in London in 1969, and opened a little Cheese Shop called 'Say Cheese' She was the very first person who ordered a 'Cheese Tray' from us, and on delivery she immediately phoned 3 friends to tell them where they must order their informal entertaining needs in the future !!
She was always gracious and generous - and I'm sure that she has imbued your children with those qualities.
We send our thanks and our prayers to Judy as she travels on.
And to you - our love and forever gratitude.

Shari, I’m so deeply sorry for this incredible loss for you and your entire family. I know how much you loved your mom. I only had the honour a limited number of times, but your stories carried the depth of love, admiration, respect adoration and awe you held for your mother. Know that your place as the first one to call her mom is your privilege. You are very lucky to hold that emblem for her forever. Love you and I am so sorry for your broken heart of loss. … may her memory be a blessing.
