Obituary of James "Jim" Henry Smale

 James “Jim” Henry Smale

October 8th, 1936 - May 14th, 2024

James “Jim” Smale, affectionately known as Papa Weasel by his grandchildren, tragically passed away at the age of 87. He was raised in Mount Brydges, Ontario with his parents, the late Ellen (Nellie) nee (Paynter) and William Smale & two siblings. James was a generous person and a family man, who was a hard worker throughout his life. He dedicated many years of service to Xerox before his retirement. James is survived by his wife, Rosalee, whom he married on May 23, 1959, and they shared nearly 65 years of marriage together. He was a proud father to his daughter, Tena (Eric) and son Barry (Jennifer), and his chosen son Daren. James was also a proud father of his former son-in-law, Aaron. Family was important to Jim, and he loved his grandchildren: Krystle (Sean), Aaron (Corine), Jenna (Kam), Shane, and Tonia (Joe). He was lucky to be a great-grand father to his eight great-grandchildren: Kolton, Ebimidele, Karter, Asamitunji, Obagidi, Mila, Ayden, and Evan. Jim will be remembered for his hilarious one-liners, his love of playing pool, his passion for cars, and his meticulous care of his many vehicles, lawn, and garden. He had a deep appreciation for good food, especially enjoying trips to the buffet. He especially loved sharing a “short” on the front porch with friends. Another great joy was attending the “Senior’s Learning Centre” at the Thamesford Tim Horton’s on a daily basis. Jim joins his parents, his late brother Bob, and his sister, Annabelle, in the afterlife.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. We will never stop fighting for you Papa Weasel.
