Obituary of Jan Elie Poortinga

Suddenly at Parkwood Hospital on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, Jan Poortinga, in his 71st year, called home to glory, our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. Loving husband of Ann for 47 years; father of Reynold, John & wife Ruth, Catherine & husband Raymond Versteeg, Donna & husband Henry van de Pol; and grandfather of Corey, Cole, Jenna, Cade, Martyn, Alyssa & Saron. Dear brother of Iep (Nellie), John (Theresa) & Richard (Tina). Jan is predeceased by his father Rinze (1970), mother Dirkje (1994) & sister Jansje (1940). Jan was an avid feather-fancier & gardener and a life-long member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church. A Celebration of Jan’s Life will be held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 716 Classic Dr., on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. (Visitation from 1-2pm).
