Although your Dad and I have not been close this last number of years, you know I have always cared about him. You were wonderful daughters to him in his time of need and I'm very proud of you. I'm happy he asked for me near the end, and that I saw him while he was still lucid. ..thank you both for being there for him.

Dear girls, your dad was such an amazing person. I loved having him as a Godfather, and was so glad he was there for us when my brother Chris died. Through the years, he was always there for me and I was so glad to have him and your mom in my life. He will always be in my heart, and I will always think of him as a kind caring soul. My thoughts are with you.

It is with great sympathy and a saddened heart that we learn of the sudden passing of your companion, Mervyn. We know that it has been an especially difficult time for you as you have just lost your Mother and my Wife, (Mildred) Ruth Butler on February 5, 2015. Losing Merv, so soon and so suddenly was a shock to all of us Merv has been a welcomed and a beloved member of our family for the past fourteen years. Merv was a true gentleman and your ever loving companion. Your love and devotion for each other; as well as your caring and support of each other, was admirable. You both looked out (and after) each through the good times and the bad. Cheryl, as your Dad, I am very proud of how well you are handling all of this grief and sorrow in your life. It must feel as though you have just lost your two 'Best Friends'. We take much comfort in knowing that not unlike your Mother's passing; Merv's passing was also peaceful. As with your Mother's passing, you were with Merv near the end holding him in your arms, comforting him, and loving him. The family understands that you will dearly miss Merv, and that there will be a very big void left in your life. Cheryl, please be reassured that we do love you, that we do care about you and we will support you. If you need us, please ask for help, and we will try to be there to help you as much as we possibly can. Just remember to take some deep breaths and take some time off for yourself and try to reflect upon all of the good times and the happy memories that the two of you shared with each other (and with the family). Love, Dad (Bill Butler and family)
