Obituary of Arthur Kenneth Nightingale
Peacefully, at University Hospital, on Thursday, March 10, 2011, Art passed away in his 97th year. Loving husband of the late Margaret Leona Nightingale (nee McEachern) (2005).
Survived by his sister Evelyn Scott of Mount Forest and his sister-in-law Margaret McEachern of Grand Bend. Predeceased by his brothers Craig, Victor & Stanley, as well as a number of brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law. Art will be fondly remembered by his nieces & nephews and all who knew him.
Art joined the Canadian Army in December 1940 as a member of the Highland Light Infantry Regiment of Canada. He served overseas in World War II and attained the rank of Lieutenant. After leaving the service, Art worked at the London office of Revenue Canada until his retirement. Art was an avid bridge player, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved to travel with his wife Margaret. Art was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Victory Branch #317 and, along with Marg, had been active members of Trinity United Church since 1952.
Friends will be received at the Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd. (1 block east of Egerton), on Wednesday from 1-2pm. Funeral service will follow in the Evans Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Browning, of Trinity United Church, officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
