Obituary
Obituary of Robert "Bob" Karcz
Born in Agathenburg, Germany March 15, 1931, Bob died at home surrounded by his family, at the age of 88, on July 4, 2019. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years Mabel; his daughters Debbie & Lisa (Wayne Miners); granddaughter Nicole, daughter in law Terry; niece Bernarda "NAKA"; and nephews Michael & Andreas. He was predeceased by his son Steven (2012); sister Ursula (2019); brother in law Eduard Nawrocki (2018); his parents Frieda & Anton Karcz.
Bob was an avid storyteller & one of his favourite was his journey to Canada in 1953. He emigrated by ship, the Arosa Kulm, arriving as many new Canadians in that era at Pier 21 in Halifax, N.S. In his early years he was a farm worker & later at McKerlie Automotive, Dominion as a baker & at Ford Talbotville for 22 years. He was nothing if not a proud Canadian!
Though never trained as a musician, music was a daily part of his life. He and Mabel could certainly cut a rug at the Circle K. Later he enjoyed singing with the Lyra Choir at the German Canadian Club & the Inter generational Alzheimer's Choir. An enthusiastic hockey fan he never missed Nicole's practices & games.
We would like to thank Dr. Kirk Hamilton, nurses Nancy, Ruth & PSW's for their support to keep Bob at home and to the Salvation Army Day Program.
Visitation will be held in the Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd., on Monday, July 8th from 7-9pm and Tuesday, July 9th from 10-11am. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held in the Evans Chapel on Tuesday, July 9th at 11:00 a.m. Interment at a later date in Woodland Cemetery.
