Dear Doreen, How sad to have read the news of John in the London Free Press. John was such a great man. I played Trombone in the Tomato Soup Band and would often sit next to him. We shared stories about Kincardine and Hydro One. We still have a cottage there. We talked a lot about church as well. I was the minister at White Oaks United for its first 15 years. He was an excellent musician as you know. He was a friend to all, a man with a wide interest and deep love. Our love to you and the family during these difficult days. May God be with you always. Glen Wright.

Doreen, Suzanne, Stewart and families. I was saddened to hear of Johns passing. I remember lots of great times with family when we were young at the cottage. And more recently seeing everyone at family get togethers. John was always full of stories and so interesting to listen to. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Thinking of you all during this sad time, keep the memories close. Xoxo

Growing up in London with his son Stuart, Mr. Carrothers was always a strong, friendly, guiding presence in our lives - someone I truly looked up to. His kind, supportive nature allowed for everything from hockey rinks in the backyard to friendly conversations while visiting Stuart. A great man who will live on in my memories.

We are saddened to learn that John has died. He was a fixture at Centre Branch Y and regaled us with so many interesting stories. May the memories of such a remarkable man bring comfort to family and friends. He will be missed.

John was such a happy man who told the best stories looking at you with the most beautiful clear blue eyes. I just loved laughing with him and he freely gave of himself looking after the music in the Shriners band and supporting the band with his great playing. May his happiness live on in all of us and the memories comfort his family.

John and I played Sousaphones together in the Police Boy's Band in the early 50s . He was a little older than me , so I looked up to him for guidance . More recently , I was a long time member of Rowntree UC , and I enjoyed listening to John playing his tuba in the little band at the church .
