Obituary of George Charles Carrothers

R.N., B.A., D.M.C., H.C.O.M. Suddenly at home Charles (Chuck/Charlie) passed away on Wednesday, January 26th in his 65th year. Left to grieve are his daughters Sarah (Chris) McMichael of Dorchester and Emily (Matt) Sereda of London. Grandfather to Olivia and Sydney McMichael and Hazel Sereda. Charlie will be greatly missed by his best friend and big brother John (Doreen) of London. Dear uncle of Suzanne (Rudy) Zimmer and their children Andrew and Liam of Calgary and Stuart (Paula) Carrothers and their children Regan and Aidan of Burlington. Remembered fondly by numerous cousins and friends. Life long memories will be shared by his friends Larry Miller, David Marshall and William Whitlock. Predeceased by his parents George and Edna Carrothers and his sister Jean Schroeder. Charlie was retired from the Ontario Civil Service having worked for 26 years in The Ministry of Health and 10 of those years as Senior Manager. Chuck pursued his love of music through his involvement as past conductor of the Mocha Shrine Concert Band and playing clarinet and tenor saxophone with the Tomato Soup Band of the Dutch Canadian Society. Chuck was a band member of the London Police Boys’ Band and various London dance bands. Charles was a member of the St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge No. 107, A.F. & A.M., Lambeth. Friends will be received at the Evans Funeral Home, 648 Hamilton Rd. (1 block east of Egerton St.), on Monday from 2-5 p.m. Private family interment in the Dorchester Union Cemetery on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 with Rev. Paul Browning officiating. In lieu of flowers those who wish to make a donation in Charlie’s memory may do so to The Shriners’ Hospital for Children c/o Mocha Shrine Centre, 468 Colborne St. London, ON, N6B 2T3.
